ZOOM! Tooth Whitening at Roe Street Dental Practice, Macclesfield, Cheshire

Tooth whitening treatments are designed to improve the colour of your natural teeth without having to resort to invasive dentistry such as fillings, veneers or crowns.

The process is entirely safe and the colour change long lasting. If your teeth are undamaged and healthy the treatment can simply make them look significantly brighter. If however, your teeth are discoloured, heavily filled, crowned or veneered the treatment can be used alongside replacement dentistry to achieve the best possible improvement in your smile.

At Roe Street Dental Practice we provide you with custom made bleaching trays for both the upper and lower teeth. These are soft plastic “mini mouth guards” specially designed to hold the bleaching gel in the right place over your front and side teeth. They are streamlined to make it easy for you to treat your upper and lower teeth at the same time. You use the gel and tray for 45 minutes each day over a period of 5 to 15 days. The gel gradually improves the colour of your teeth day by day and you may even notice a difference after one or two treatments.

You can take a day off at any time, achieving your colour change at a rate suitable to you. Dental materials such as fillings crowns and veneers are not affected by the whitening and their colour will not be changed. As the colour of your teeth lightens any dark or unsightly pieces of dentistry will become more obvious and you may want to discuss with your dentist follow up treatment.

Is teeth whitening safe?

Yes. Clinical studies have shown that whitening your teeth with carbamide or hydrogen peroxide under the supervision of a dental professional is safe for teeth and gums.

What are the side effects?

The most common side effect is tooth and gum sensitivity. Your dentist is your best resource to ensure that you are a good candidate for whitening and that you are using the right concentration of whitening formula. Philips Zoom at-home whitening products have two mild desensitizing agents, potassium nitrate and Amorphous Calcium Phosphate (ACP), to minimize tooth sensitivity.

What’s the difference between other whitening solutions and Philips Zoom?

Other whitening products are not customised to your needs. With Philips Zoom, the whitening process is tailored to your needs by your dentist, with custom-fitted trays for at-home treatments or just the right light intensity and duration in the dentist’s office.

How long will my Zoom whitening results last?

Whitening treatments help to reduce existing stains, but through consumption of coffee, soft drinks or just through natural aging, your teeth may eventually become discolored again. Maintenance whitening can help combat recurring discoloration. Only Philips Zoom at-home whitening products include ACP, which has been shown to help reduce whitening fade-back.

What causes teeth to discolor?

There are many causes to tooth discoloration. Some of the most common include the consumption highly colored foods and drinks (berries, coffee, tea, red wine). Some medications, aging, smoking and trauma can also cause teeth discoloration.

How long does it take?

With Zoom at-home, when used as instructed, you will achieve the same great results in one-two weeks, depending on concentration of formulation and wear time you select.
